Choosing flange materials for Visakhapatnam's coastal and process conditions

Salt air and seawater. Carbon-steel flanges near the harbour corrode quickly unless the coating is written into the purchase order - tell us the paint or galvanising system you need anti-rust oil, black bitumen paint, or zinc electroplating. Where seawater actually wets the flange, 304L and 316L pit and suffer crevice corrosion at the gasket face in warm harbour water; super duplex (ASTM A182 F53/F55) or 6Mo (F44) is the usual choice for pumped seawater, with standard duplex (F51/F60) and 316L kept to splash-zone and marine-air duty. The final call belongs to your process engineer - we quote whatever the line list says.
Sour service. Refinery lines carrying wet H2S need material that meets NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945, with hardness control and certificates that say so. MR0175 / ISO 15156 is the equivalent for oil and gas production. State the standard on your enquiry and we price it in.
Oxygen and high-temperature steam. Steel-plant oxygen lines need components cleaned and certified for oxygen service. Power-plant steam lines use chrome-moly grades - F11 and F22, and F91 at higher temperatures - supplied in the heat-treated condition ASTM A182 requires.
