1. Material specification and grade - for example ASTM A105, A350 LF2 Class 1, A182 F5, F9 or F316L - plus any supplementary requirements such as carbon-equivalent limits or hardness.
2. Service standard - NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945 for sour refining service, or none.
3. Design metal temperature - LPG, propylene and other auto-refrigerating services can chill piping well below -29 °C, which is where impact-tested A350 LF2 replaces A105.

Every flange starts as a certified billet or bar whose heat number follows it through cutting, forging, heat treatment where the material specification requires it, CNC machining and drilling, and final marking of grade, class, size and heat number. Before dispatch we check dimensions against the governing standard and PMI, hardness, and ultrasonic testing, and issue material test certificates that tie each flange back to its heat.
