Industry Sector Overview

Corrosion-resistant forged flanges manufactured for commercial shipbuilding, offshore oil platforms, naval defense vessels, and marine ballast water systems.

Critical Operating Challenges & Design Constraints

Severe chloride pitting and crevice corrosion from continuous seawater exposure
Galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals in marine environments
Vibration and hull flex fatigue stresses on piping flange connections

Recommended Material Grade Selection Matrix

Quality Assurance, Testing & Specification Compliance

Material Traceability & Metallurgical Testing

Every flange manufactured for Marine Industry Flanges is forged from 100% prime tested steel billets with complete melt-heat traceability. Remax Forge performs Spectro chemical analysis, tensile testing, yield strength verification, elongation measurement, and Brinell or Vickers hardness checks according to ASTM A105, A182, A350, and ASME Section II standards.

For critical fluid handling and high-pressure duties, we execute Positive Material Identification (PMI) testing using calibrated XRF analyzers, Charpy V-notch impact testing at design minimum temperatures (down to -46°C for A350 LF2 or cryogenic conditions for austenitic alloys), and grain size examination compliant with ASTM E112.

Hydrostatic, NDT & Third-Party Inspection

Non-destructive examination (NDE) procedures including 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for internal defect detection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) are conducted per ASME Section V specifications.

Every dispatch is accompanied by an EN 10204 Type 3.1 Mill Test Certificate (MTC) detailing complete chemical, mechanical, and heat-treatment batch records. Independent third-party inspection (TPI) by global authorities including Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, DNV-GL, TÜV, and SGS is routinely facilitated upon project requisition.

Industry FAQs

Q: Do your flanges carry classification society approval (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's)?

A: Standard production includes EN 10204 3.1 MTCs with full raw material traceability. For marine projects requiring classification society witness (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register), third-party inspection and EN 10204 3.2 endorsement can be arranged prior to dispatch.
